dude, another failed “next oscar de la hoya” candidate… they should just let fighters be fighters and let the audience tune into them… it’s highly manipulative… and builds pressure that the fighters will surely never accomplish what oscar did. Oscar never tried to become his public image through a media blitz, he just naturally was the way he was. With the “next Mexican crossover star” contest going along… juan diaz failed, victor ortiz failed… alfredo angulo failed.. (of course the flu had to do with it), you’d think golden boy will just let fighters be fighters. they had a reality show by jackie chan to find the “next jackie chan”, anyone ever heard of Jack Tu? The winner of the contest? My point taken.
"According to all the laws of aerodynamics the bumble-bee should not fly, but the bumble-bee does not know this and so flies anyway."
a what?
juan diaz and victor ortiz failed because they weren’t very good at boxing. That’s a problem. Angulo isn’t represneted by golden boy, and wasn’t a star at all but certainly no one was trying to force him on us as a sex symbol. He’s just an action figher (a la rios) who people will like for that reason.
Also, ladies love Canelo so he can say whatever he wants, as it seems to be working. That isn’t marketing, I’ve watched some of his fights with women, and trust me, they want some of the Canelo. I don’t think he said that to be a shill, I think he said it because saying that works for him with the ladies. Now what hes probably thinking is what works for him with the ladies is being in crazy good shape, but no guy would ever say that, that gets you no where.

…what works for him with the ladies is being in crazy good shape…
That and being young with tons of cash. Also being smart enough to say things that women want to hear probably helps as well.

Well yea.....
but you don’t say that in an interview, when you goal is to continue getting ladies.

happened to bojado too
soto also got a lot of hype around 2008 about being the next barrera-marquez-morales and shortly after that he lost against guzman
i mean the fame and expectations get into their head
i mean look at mijares and montiel both top 3 in the 115 division both were around the same level of talent ,yet mijares got the spotlight and crashed and burned, montiel quietly did his job and achieved a lot of success
Mijares was 26 years old and a nine-year pro when he took off by beating the tar out of Jorge Arce and got the spotlight because he earned it by beating good fighters. Soto got a lot of hype when he was about 25 and started beating good fighters, and he had been an eight-year pro already. Mijares had already lost three fights. Soto had lost five. They turned pro in their teens with zero fanfare. They learned on the job. I don’t think they compare to Bojado or Alvarez in any way other than they’re all Mexican.

I think it's awesome.

The narrator sound sketchy—like he is narrating a porn flick. This crap has no business in boxing other than to entice the female fans.
You know, I found the tone a little weird and off-putting, and that’s exactly what it is. It sounds like bizarre porn.
