This has apparently been out for almost a week and honest to God, I didn't get a whiff of it until Luke Thomas pointed it out on Twitter, via an article at the Examiner. Here's Floyd Mayweather's, uh, "theme song" and video, "Champ Life":
The song is called "Dis Morning" and the artist is Rocko.
Now a few things I want to say, but I don't feel the need to form proper paragraphs:
- I stay pretty on top of most boxing-related things, and most silly boxing-related things. That this has been up for a week and has over 120,000 views without me noticing says something. That something is probably that Mayweather continues to drift out of the boxing fan's mind, more and more by the week.
- This song is f***ing horrible. It's not that I have something against hip-hop, because I do not.
- Floyd Mayweather does know you can't take your watch collection to the grave, right? I mean, you can, I guess, but why would you?
- Always good to see The Big Boy Mansion.
So here's the super important question: What's the better song, Manny Pacquiao's cover of "Sometimes When We Touch" or the Floyd-endorsed "Champ Life" video? It's your call. Defend your pick and choose wisely.
