Watching the video of Paco Rodriquez and his legacy, it struck me that many would like to do more than just feel awful for his wife and daughter, so here's one option.
The following is from http://franciscorodriguezfund.wordpress.com/
You can donate to the Francisco Rodriguez Estate at any Chase Bank in America. You may deposit directly to account # 707331062.
The above only works if you live near one--you can just walk in. If you don't live near a Chase branch, you can donate by mail. I called a Chase branch in Chicago, and was further instructed via their philanthropy department that donations should be sent to:
Chase by Mail > PO Box 32750>Louisville, KY 40233
Chase requests that a note accompany the donation with return address of donor and with the account number above reiterated.
There are other boxers in trouble, and several funds and organizations dedicated to elderly/retired boxers--anyone with information, please share. As I hunt down more, I'll post them too. Doing anything makes more sense than handwringing, guilt, and rueing the consequences of the sport: Actual cash in their hands seems like a good place to start--even if it's just teeny cash, which is all most of us can afford.
