Bad Left Hook Radio for May 25, 2011: Bernard Hopkins Appreciation and Some Other Stuff
This week's edition of Bad Left Hook Radio pretty much sucks. I had to use my non-preferred computer with my six-week old laptop's hard drive all screwed up, there's not a whole lot to talk about this weekend, and we're going into a holiday weekend. Ah, but here's what's covered on the show:
- Bernard Hopkins Appreciation
- Roy Jones Jr
- The Five Best Fights Currently on the Calendar
- Email questions about broadcasters, Top Rank/Golden Boy, and what could be next for George Groves
Shortest episode yet, but still right about an hour. This is going to be a low-end episode for sure -- most weekends have something, but this weekend the biggest show is main evented by Chris Arreola vs Kendrick Releford. Just nothing going on.
Note: First song has some profanity, so watch your surroundings when you listen. Don't get fired from work.

props to Calzaghe....
then you said it was a ‘crime against boxing’ – thats one of Joe’s career high points :(
To be honest, I’ve never tried to watch that fight since though….
Excellent show again overall.

I like Joe Calzaghe. He was an incredibly smart fighter. But that fight was horrific. Those two guys landed more mental punches on each other than real punches.

Not related to Ward
But I think I’ll take that as a complement. Thanks for answering my question.

Great broadcast, Scott. Regarding Calzaghe-Hopkins: yeah I might have called it a crime against boxing, but those guys were matched like oil and vinegar from the start and I can’t say I was really suprised to see how awful it was. I sort of disagree about it being a battle of the brains, even though I do think Zaggy has a certains smarts to his round strategy. But, I more put Joe in that group of athletes like Roy who are very helpless once their natural athletic edge is gone. Calzaghe without his speed and mobility is not something I’d want to see, and I think a comeback from him would be very bad for his health.
