Bad Left Hook Live Results and Coverage: Galarza vs Garcia, Dulorme vs Corley on Friday Night Fights
Tonight's Friday Night Fights has some good action potential, as it's night number one of the "Boricua Invasion" at New York's Roseland Ballroom, and a couple of serious puncher prospects are on display tonight against solid opponents.
The show starts live at 9 p.m. EDT on ESPN2 and ESPN3.com.
In the main event, Kenny Galarza (14-1, 14 KO) meets Irving Garcia (17-6-3, 8 KO) in a 10-round welterweight showcase. Galarza, 25, is still raw and has some question marks after being thoroughly dominated over 10 rounds last June by fellow 147-pound prospect Brad Solomon. His best wins are a pair of TKOs over veteran Ilido Julio. Garcia, 32, has lost three straight and is 1-3-2 in his last six, but that all started with a very competitive technical draw against Yuriy Nuzhnenko in 2008. Stateside, he's probably best known for a cracking fight against Luis Carlos Abregu in May 2009, which was all action for the four rounds it lasted.
The co-feature has another welterweight prospect, Thomas Dulorme (11-0, 10 KO), taking on faded veteran DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley (37-17-1, 22 KO). Corley can still be a bit tricky as a crafty southpaw, but his ability to take punches has dropped considerably over the years, and Dulorme can really bang. He turned some heads in April on the Berto vs Ortiz card when he viciously knocked out Harrison Cuello.

I wouldn't be shocked if Chop Chop is a step up too quick too soon
Maidana couldn’t knock him out, and it wouldn’t be the first time Corley has beaten (or should have beaten) a touted prospect. While the Cuello KO was great, I still have no clue whether Dulorme can box. Looking only at what I know, he could be no better than Breidis Prescott.

Not gonna score anything tonight. or rather not gonna do RBR. Might score. Would rather drink and watch and discuss and be a doofus.

FWIW
I’ve never liked watching Corley fight, but he’s one of my favorite people in the sport. A little quirky, never backs down from anyone, and a legitimately good guy. Raising like 9 kids, and IIRC four of them were a friends who he took in after his friend died.

Facially, Dulorme looks oddly similar to Quinton Jackson. If he’s half as good or charismatic he’ll be a heck of a find.

Corley is a step slow so far.

Oh, okay. I guess boxing wasn’t much of a priority.

Corley really dropping out fast here.
His corner might want to think about throwing in the towel. Yes I know they won’t.
This isn’t much different than he’s looked in a lot of fights lately. He’s very up and down. And that’s not a getting knocked down pun. OK it can be.

I’ll say this-not that the Boxing Hall of Fame (or any HOF) for that matter is something I care about, but I like that Mike seems to have turned his life into something else, after being so bad for so long. He’ll always be a “what might have been”, though.
I think we got the absolute most of his career could have ever happened. If he’d been relaxed back when he’d have never been the marquee star.

I’m from a Puerto Rican backround and my favorite ‘brothers’ are Cintron and Cotto. I rather not see them fight each other. Dulorme looks good. I go for Garcia for an upset.
I like Galarza early in this one. And nasty.
One time I bought a Puerto Rico shirt just because I was drunk and had been talking about Miguel Cotto.

Within the last few months, Puerto Rico has lost Calderon, Juanma Lopez and Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. Their only remaining champion is Miguel Cotto, who is rounding the bend and who probably won’t be fighting two years from now. Lopez will surely be back, and Vazquez probably will be as well, but still—it’s been a very bad time for PR boxing, and Teddy and company are clearly scooting around the topic for obvious reasons.
