Bad Left Hook Live Results and Coverage: Moreno vs Parra and Golovkin vs Ouma

Gennady Golovkin puts his undefeated record on the line tonight against Kassim Ouma.

Starting shortly, Bad Left Hook will have live coverage of the double main event tonight in Panama City, as two major titles are on the line at Arena Roberto Duran.

Anselmo Moreno (30-1-1, 10 KO) defends the WBA bantamweight title against former flyweight titleholder Lorenzo Parra (31-2-1, 18 KO) in the final fight of the evening, the true main event. Parra, 32, is on the road against the 25-year-old Moreno, who has risen through the bantamweight ranks over the last three years, and won almost all of his biggest fights on the road. Tonight, he has home field against the Venezuelan Parra.

In the night's other featured bout, Gennady Golovkin (20-0, 17 KO) defends his WBA middleweight belt against veteran Kassim Ouma (27-7-1, 17 KO). Ouma has had a bit of a career rebirth since a really rough stretch, but overall has still lost four of his last six fights, and hasn't beaten a serious contender since 2006.

The stream after the jump is legal and courtesy TV Max.

Golovkin vs Ouma R1

Ouma keeping his jab active, even if just flicking it around. First half of the round is quiet but both looking a way inside. Both looking toward to the body now and then but without much conviction. Golovkin with a straight right. Ouma with a nice jab, then Golovkin fires back. Little between them this round, but here and there Golovkin is the guy throwing punches with intent.

Golovkin 10-9

Golovkin vs Ouma R2

Ouma is coming forward with these weird double pawing charges. Golovkin with a right from range. Ouma catches him with a little left hand up from under. Golovkin now trying to find the proper distance instead of get inside. Both kind of roughing it up a little here and there. Golovkin leading with a right, then lands a nice one in combination, and then a stiff jab. Ouma snaps Golovkin’s head back with a left hand. Right by Golovkin. Another left by Ouma. Good stuff so far.

Golovkin 10-9
Golovkin 20-18

Ouma’s definitely here to fight.

Golovkin vs Ouma R3

Now Golovkin standing in close and ripping away to the body and head. He’s definitely got the crisper shots between the two, though Ouma’s left worked in the second. Right hand by Golovkin. I get the feeling eventually one of those is going to hurt Ouma, who is tougher than a two dollar steak. Ouma with a little rally with about 45 seconds left. Golovkin starts swinging wildly late in the round. A little sloppy on both sides, but determined.

Golovkin vs Ouma R4

Golovkin looking for uppercuts now. Left hook to the body by Golovkin, then Ouma starts tagging him upstairs. This is a rough little fight and I am loving it. Ouma really starting to turn it up. Golovkin’s defense is leakier than all hell. Ouma popping him over and over. Golovkin now meeting his aggression! Boy this is a good fight. Ouma on the ropes and Golovkin throwing to the body. Golovkin closing the round very well int he final minute and change, but then Ouma tags him again! And Golovkin fires back!

Golovkin vs Ouma R5

This is the type of fight you’re happy you stayed up for. Lots of leather flying, both guys bringing offense, recklessly disregarding the art of the sweet science, defensively. Both are just wide open for these sneaky little counters during the flurries. I’ve got it fairly wide, but the rounds have been close. I just think it’s Golovkin’s power advantage showing so far.

Golovkin vs Ouma R6

Nice right hook inside from Ouma. These guys are in constant motion, never holding, always moving around the ring. When they do tie their arms up a bit, they get right out of it and go back to fighting. Nice left hook to the body by Golovkin, then a right hand. Left from Ouma, right from Golovkin comes back in kind. Flurry from Ouma, just little potshots. Golovkin with another hard left to the body. Left hook upstairs by Golovkin answers an Ouma combination, and then Ouma lands a good left hand to the head. These two are leaving it all in the ring. Good Lord. This is a pace and a half. Great shots by both, Ouma working with his back to the ropes pretty effectively. Right to the body by Golovkin. Golovkin with a right upstairs that backs down Ouma. Golovkin just staying all over Ouma, who is doing what he can but without big power is having some issues that are getting more glaring as this goes along. Another good body shot by Golovkin. Hell of a round.

Golovkin vs Ouma R7

Ouma with that right uppercut again. I think Golovkin’s gas tank is coming into play here. Ouma has been deep in hard fights plenty of times. His stamina has generally been a big plus over his career. Golovkin more a question mark there. And he’s still getting tagged. Now Golovkin trying to work at range, as the inside fight this round has been all Ouma. Ouma sticking his jab out there, takes a right, and now gets backed to the ropes again, where Golovkin hunches over and looks to get back to business. Left hook by Golovkin. Right hook by Ouma. They end it still working, like every round.

Golovkin vs Ouma R8

Golovkin opening up with a lot of offense to start this round. He’s looking to really take over the momentum, it appears. Golovkin finding the right hand again. Ouma has slowed this round and is staying out of the action a bit more, maybe holding something in reserve. Head and body shots by Golovkin. Uppercut by Golovkin. Golovkin totally dictating this round with a big output, but here comes a little Ouma run with 40 seconds left in the round. Might try to steal this one if he can. Right hand pops Golovkin, but he gets back to the jab to come back. Both landing until the bell again. Big Golovkin round.

Golovkin vs Ouma R9

Golovkin back to work, fighting him in tight to start the round. Ouma’s tape comes loose. Golovkin starting to really lay on the pressure the last two rounds, and Ouma appears to be fading a bit. Ouma hurt! He gets away and now he’s surviving as Golovkin looks to close the show. Ouma escapes again, and there’s another wicked uppercut from Golovkin as he keeps his hands moving looking for the moment. Golovkin physically dominating the last two rounds. It really is a difference in power. ANOTHER hard uppercut by Golovkin and Ouma is shaky going back to the corner.

Ouma trying to keep Golovkin off, but he just can’t anymore. Golovkin is zeroed in and ripping him, and the uppercut is there all day. Ouma rattled again, and Golovkin goes back to work. Right hand by Golovkin lands square. Ouma fights back with as much as he’s got left, which at this point ain’t much. Golovkin beating up on him, referee taking a close look. Golovkin tearing away! And the referee steps in!

well i stopped scoring after losing the stream for the 3rd round, but based on watching, i feel mosquera should need a knockout to win.

Good fight, but I’d be surprised if they give the dec to Perez…………..tough fight to score…….so expecting a W for the Panamanian fighter

by DPlainview on Jun 18, 2011 1:28 AM EDT up reply actions

it seemed perez couldn’t miss from rounds 4-10, but you’ll probably be right.

by alargar on Jun 18, 2011 1:29 AM EDT up reply actions

Moreno vs Parra R1

Moreno pokes and pokes and pokes and keeps Parra at bay. Moreno complains of a low shot at the bell.

i’ve made it this far, i’ll be watching to the end…

by alargar on Jun 18, 2011 2:19 AM EDT reply actions

This is fucking worthless. Why did Parra even bother? This is the Parra I thought was toast a while back, not the guy who fought Arce last year. Not that Arce and Moreno are remotely comparable, but even handicapping for that.
