Khan vs Judah Undercard: Another Fight Canceled
Along with the recent second scrapping of the Lamont Peterson vs Victor Cayo 140-pound eliminator bout, the July 23 Amir Khan vs Zab Judah card has lost another fight, which has also been called off for a second time.
Dan Rafael reports that the scheduled welterweight clash between Joel Julio and Antwone Smith is off, with Julio pulling out due to a family emergency, after his mother and sister were injured in a car accident in Colombia. The two were supposed to meet in the main event of the May 20 edition of Friday Night Fights, but Smith pulled out of that fight, leaving us with a dreadful replacement of Julio vs Anges Adjaho.
The Peterson vs Cayo bout was originally set for the April 29 Friday Night Fights, but went under when Cayo bailed on the fight. That has happened again, and now a purse bid has been set for July 5.
The only notable fight now sitting on the undercard of the show is Peter Quillin vs Tarvis Simms. Prospect Mikael Zewski is also slated for action.

Why are Khan undercards perenially doomed?
First McCloskey, now this…
"Occasionally, there is a boxing match that, in its demonstration of skill, courage, intelligence, hope, seems to redeem the sport - almost. Perhaps boxing has always been a sport in crisis, a sport of crisis."
Considering that neither of those fights was going to be televised, I'm almost glad they got canceled.
Better chance of them getting remade on ESPN2 or a televised undercard later.

I believe Peterson vs Cayo was going to be the co-feature on HBO.

I heard they were only doing Khan-Judah
I thought Rafael was raising a stink about it.

This should be a good fight, I see Judah staggering and stunning Khan early with his power and experience, and Khan coming strong in the mid to late rounds, imposing his height, endurance, speed, and size late in the fight while judah fades, and maybe even throws a few lowblows and has a breakdown or starts a brawl… should be fun… and Khan saying he felt “absolutely brilliant” after the fight, that he felt like a “strong bloke”.

weak!
I bought my tickets for this card a few weeks ago thinking it would be solid. Now its only the one noteable fight. Hopefully GBP will get another decent scrap on there on short notice…maybe Kirkland if he wins his fight Fiday night!
