Super Six Weights from Atlantic City: Froch and Johnson Ready to Roll
Carl Froch and Glen Johnson both made weight for their Saturday night clash in the Super Six World Boxing Classic semifinals. The fighters hit the scales today in Atlantic City.
The UK's Froch came in at 167½, while "Gentleman" Glen weighed in at 166½. I'm sure we'll have photos and other good stuff from the weigh-in later today.
Though none of the fights will be televised by Showtime tomorrow, here's a look at the off-TV undercard:
Light Heavyweights (10)
Zsolt Erdei (32-0, 17 KO) vs Byron Mitchell (28-7-1, 21 KO)
Super Middleweights (8)
Edison Miranda (33-5, 29 KO) vs Rayco Saunders (20-13-2, 8 KO)
Super Middleweights (8)
Allan Green (29-3, 20 KO) vs Dhafir Smith (24-20-7, 4 KO)
Light Heavyweights (6)
Badou Jack (5-0, 4 KO) vs Harjo Sujak (6-1, 2 KO)
Lightweights (6)
Ivan Redkach (6-0, 5 KO) vs Alberto Amaro (6-5, 2 KO)
Middleweights (4)
J'Leon Love (6-0, 5 KO) vs Lamar Harris (6-7-3, 4 KO)
And here's a shot of Rachael Cordingley arriving in AC, just because, also from the SHO Twitter:

There was apparently some chatter that Johnson was struggling with the weight, and to get as far down as 166 1/2… makes you wonder if he’s overtrained or just missed on a cut he hasn’t had to make often.

Yeah, i’m a bit suprised at that considering it’s not that long ago he was at 175.
He reminds me of James Toney, physique wise, when he was at 168, his body looks too skinny to me at this weight, like he’s losing too much muscle.
Saying that, i would be suprised if an old head like GJ didn’t know what he was doing.
I agree
I can’t blame him and to some extent I commend him for doing whatever it takes to get into and stay in this tourney….but he just doesn’t look right at this weight.

He was 167 for the Green fight too, but from the way he was talking about his camp, I think there is a possibility he may have overtrained a bit for this one.

He looks over-drained as well.
Froch is not facing prime Glen Johnson but that’s not Carl’s fault.
It’s just a fact.
