Cotto vs Margarito II Officially Headed to Madison Square Garden

Dan Rafael reports this afternoon that the Miguel Cotto vs Antonio Margarito rematch is officially headed to New York's Madison Square Garden. The two will fight on December 3 on pay-per-view.

"Everything is being finalized for the fight and when it is, we'll be at Madison Square Garden," duBoef said of the famed arena, which is undergoing a significant renovation. "Madison Square Garden is one of the most important arenas in the country and I like doing events here. Miguel has a big fan base here and we want those fans to see him again."

... "When you look at the electricity of previous Miguel Cotto fights that have been at the Garden and the magnitude of this event, the Garden was the perfect place to do it," duBoef said.

The fight, with Cotto's enormous Puerto Rican fanbase in New York, fits perfectly at MSG. Margarito will be easily cast as the villain for the fight, an the atmosphere should be incredible.

Cotto has six times at the Garden in the past, and is undefeated in the building, with wins over Muhammad Abdullaev, Paul Malignaggi, Zab Judah, Shane Mosley, Michael Jennings, and Joshua Clottey. He hasn't fought at the Garden since 2009. Margarito has only fought on the hallowed ground once, when he obliterated Golden Johnson in one round back in 2007.

Who do you have winning this one right now? Margarito repeat, or Cotto revenge?
