Pawel Wolak Responds to K9 Bundrage: "Let's Do It On Dec. 3"
Earlier, we talked about junior middleweight titlist Cornelius "K9" Bundrage looking for big fights. Bundrage discussed Shane Mosley and Carlos Molina, and also said he's "tired of all these scaredy cats not wanting to fight."
That has already drawn a response. Pawel Wolak sent us this on Twitter, responding to K9's seemingly open challenge:
@badlefthook did k9 say "I am tired of all these scaredy cats not wanting to fight." Put the belt up and lets do it Dec 3 on Cotto card.
Wolak (29-1-1, 19 KO) is coming off of a draw in a Fight of the Year contender against Delvin Rodriguez on July 15. While fans largely want a rematch on the Cotto vs Margarito show on December 3, it doesn't appear that's likely to happen. Top Rank's Jesus Soto Karass has been mentioned as a potential opponent or Wolak, and now the Polish fighter has brought up Bundrage, which makes for a good fight, too.
Whether or not this would be a big enough fight for Bundrage is up for debate, but I'm guessing it would be if Carlos Molina is a big enough name for him. Plus, add in the stage for the fight on HBO pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden, and if the two sides can work something out, I think it's a good fight for both and promises action. I am still of the opinion that Wolak and Rodriguez have unfinished business, but that just doesn't appear to be in the cards.
Thumbs up or down for this idea?

Two thumbs up for Pawel (or Delvin). Either would bring it.
But I don’t see K-9 looking in their (or Molina’s) direction. Bundrage is looking for the major names which brings the major $$$$.
What major names? Shane Mosley doesn’t have a promoter and nobody’s going to buy that fight. Mosley and Molina are all he’s mentioned. It’s not like he’s gonna fight Pacquiao or Mayweather.

He defeated Spinks a year ago, and has made one defense (mandatory). He’s 38 years old, and you would think he would be trying to make as much money as possible defending his title against lower tier contenders. I’m sure none of these contenders would avoid K9.
He’s not, because he’s holding out for the "big" name. I’m sure in his mind Mosely is a "big" name, and of course he won’t get Pac or May…………but we live in the "real" world of thinking.
Well you might be right on that count. He might just be that delusional about his own value and the value of the IBF belt.

No K9 is alright with watchability. But he and Grady Brewer once had a god awful fight.

I haven't seen many good Grady Brewer fights
But he’s still no Ishe Smith

THUMBS UP!!!
He deserves a shot! (as well as Devin) Plus, if he wins, it makes a rematch with Devin all the bigger. Those guys deserve the big audience.

They can get Delvin, they’re just not going to.

Thumbs DOWN
In no way, shape, or form would I approve of Delvin getting screwed out of an opportunity to get major exposure on the Cotto/Margarito undercard. Wolak has unfinished business with him and the first fight was great. I know Delvin isn’t a Top Rank fighter but giving him a rematch is the right thing to do, not that “the right thing to do” has ever had one shred of influence on a promoter’s decision, but still.
Thumbs up, as long as we get the rematch with Rodriguez later
