Here's the official HBO boxing poster for the Boxing After Dark on Saturday, July 9, featuring Paul Williams and Erislandy Lara in the main event:
Of course this is the standard template for all Boxing After Dark events, two guys in motion about to punch each other and what have you. A serious underestimation of the burning hunger that boxing fans have for cool, unique fight posters, which are only made now by promoters and/or the venues the events are held in.
Here's the "other" Williams vs Lara poster.
To note, this show is going head-to-head with Showtime's double-header on Saturday, and Bad Left Hook will only provide live coverage for that show, which has Brandon Rios vs Urbano Antillon on top in what promises to be a can't-miss action fight, and a co-feature of Kermit Cintron vs Carlos Molina. Showtime simply has a more interesting fight card in place, so we're choosing that one. Usually when these shows go against each other, you just have to make the choice of missing one of the co-features if you want to see both main events, but not this time. HBO goes live at 10:15 EDT, with Showtime on at 10 EDT. Too bad, too, because Shimoda vs Ramos is a nice HBO co-feature, and it's rare we get to see one of the top Japanese fighters on US TV.
