Andre Ward won't be fighting in Oakland for the Super Six World Boxing Classic final on October 29, but he'll be giving his hometown fans an event before that. The August 24 press conference in Oakland is open to the public.

Ward (24-0, 13 KO) will face Carl Froch (28-1, 20 KO) two months after the event on Showtime, which will end the two-year Super Six World Boxing Classic tournament. It may wind up being the one and only Super Six, because the execution was a little rocky, and the reality is simply that no six-man, round robin tournament in boxing will ever go off without a hitch. Some might even consider the fact that it's finishing to be a mild upset.

The finals will take place at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall, where Froch fought in June against Glen Johnson. It will be Ward's first fight out of California since 2008.
