Alfredo Angulo will make his debut for Golden Boy Promotions tonight at midnight on ESPN Deportes and streaming live on ESPN3.com.
Angulo (19-1, 16 KO) is in a comeback mismatch against Joseph Gomez (17-4-1, 8 KO). Gomez, 26, is a New Mexico-based fighter who has lost two in a row and three of his last four. It's just a fight meant to knock some rust off of the 29-year-old Angulo, who hasn't fought since stopping faded Joachim Alcine in the first round in July 2010.
With Golden Boy recently buying Angulo out from Golden Boy Promotions, the hope is that the powerful firm will be able to get his messy visa situation cleared up, allowing him to again enter the United States and get a promising career truly back on track. There has already been talk about matching Angulo with Vanes Martirosyan in a WBC eliminator at 154 pounds, with the winner facing Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in due time.
I'll be out tonight for a friend's birthday, but anyone watching the fight can feel free to use this post as a hub to talk about it as it goes on. Enjoy!
