Lem Satterfield of The RING reports that the December 3 rematch between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito will have a catchweight, but it won't be 150 pounds, or 152. It will be 153 pounds, or a whole one pound under the normal 154-pound junior middleweight limit.
So, yes, now I fully believe that it's nothing more than Cotto messing with Margarito, but the fight still isn't officially signed:
"There are no contracts signed yet, but the fight has been agreed to in principle. They're finishing the contracts to be circulated and to be reviewed, etc.," said [Cotto's legal adviser Gaby] Penagaricano.
"So nothing has been signed, but the fight has been agreed to in principle to Miguel Cotto's full satisfaction."
Cotto and Margarito have had a bit of a disagreeable negotiation period for this fight, but now it looks like it will go ahead. Top Rank is putting together a media tour, which will hit Puerto Rico, Mexico, Los Angeles, and New York, where the fight will be held at Madison Square Garden.
This is good news for those who are looking forward to the fight. To those who aren't, well, it's just news then.
