Today at 3 p.m. EDT on Sky Sports 3 from the United Kingdom, Paul McCloskey and Breidis Prescott will duke it out in a WBA junior welterweight eliminator, with the winner in theory in line for a rematch with Amir Khan that probably isn't going to happen.
McCloskey (22-1, 12 KO) is coming off of an April 16, six-round technical decision to Khan, in which he didn't win a round. Prescott (24-2, 19 KO) has won three straight since dropping back-to-back fights to Miguel Vazquez and Kevin Mitchell in 2009, a year after his 54-second upset of Khan launched him from unknown to name fighter.
To keep being relevant, Prescott badly needs this win. McCloskey would be the second-best scalp on his record, but that goes both ways, as Prescott would perhaps be the best win of McCloskey's career.
In the co-feature slot, super bantamweight prospect Carl Frampton (10-0, 6 KO) takes on late replacement opponent Mark Quon (11-3-1, 2 KO) for the vacant Commonwealth title.
We'll have live-round-by-round coverage, starting a big, long day of live fight coverage that will continue with Klitschko vs Adamek and Gamboa vs Ponce de Leon, plus Mayweather vs Ortiz: 24/7.
