Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: The WBO Speaks
Manny Pacquiao is currently the WBO welterweight champion, a belt he earned from beating Miguel Angel Cotto in 2009. I would assume that Manny Pacquiao and Top Rank have to give the WBO some heads up about whom Manny is fighting next. Here's yet another piece of evidence showing that Manny Pacquiao isn't fighting Floyd Mayweather in May. The WBO president Francisco Varcarcel made a comment to Miguel Rivera reporting from Boxing Scene.
"I was told by Bob Arum that Pacquiao would fight in June, not in May."
This is a fairly bold statement from the WBO president but nothing that can be classified as definitive. Unless it's a statement from either Top Rank or Manny Pacquiao, then I wouldn't put too much stock in any statement about Manny's next fight. Sure, Manny will probably want to defend the WBO belt, but I can't imagine that Bob Arum would be giving the WBO such sensitive information. You may hate Bob Arum but he's not dumb enough to let incredibly sensitive information to leak this easily. However, this could just be a misunderstanding. Maybe Bob told the WBO president that Manny would fight in June before the whole Floyd prison sentence delay and subsequent twitter nonsense.

On the other hand, this may be yet another hint that Manny and Floyd are not fighting each other. Manny is going to fight some Top Rank fighter in June and Floyd is going to fight Saul Alvarez on May 5 at the MGM Grand. We all should just accept these fights as certainties and be pleasantly surprised if anything else happens. Floyd and Manny is not happening in May and it is not happening in November. Boxing will continue to have great fights and great rivalries. Life moves on, etc.

a litttle harsh to just completely write it off i know its annoying but now more than ever it seems the fight could happen in november, i know its anyones guess but i get the vibe this time like something may happen, it just seems to me that may isnt happening cos arum is petty but even he wouldnt turn down this massive money deal on the fight. for me: manny is regularly expressing his desire for the fight, mayweather is calling him out and finally seems interested, arum has offered to promote the fight (for whatever purpose he said it), roach is saying november like its a done deal (clearly it isnt) and at the turn of the year it seemed genuine negotiations were taking place for a real fight that was scrapped due to mayweathers jail sentance, obviously the fight could have still happened may 5 but arum will only make the fight as and when it suits him thats all it is and maybe thats blind optimism but whatever
Why will this fight happen in November and not happen now? What evidence do you have? Is Bob Arum in negotiations with Mayweather’s team about a November date?

To me it seems that the closest the fight has ever come to being made was the very first round of negotiations in the winter of 2009 after Pac beat Cotto. SInce then it’s been mostly rumors and random twitter/fighthype crap. The reason why I would feel it’s unlikely to happen in November is because these guys are so unpredictable. How do we know Mayweather won’t suddenly retire again? He may just ignore November because he doesn’t want to be dictated to by Arum the same way Arum doesn’t want to be dictated to by Floyd. How do we know Arum is at all serious about November anyways? He has certainly lied before, and it wouldn’t be a stretch for him to suddenly announce in July that a 4th Marquez fight has been signed or something along those lines. He will just say it’s because Floyd is in prison or something. Then it will all start over again in January of next year.

In November it’ll be that the fight almost happened this time, seriously guys, but maybe in May 2013 or November 2013 or maybe in 2014.

The best hint that Manny and Floyd are not fighting each other is the fact that Bob Arum continues to draw breath.

IN NOVEMBER?? YEA RIGHT!
No way Floyd fights in november….Floyd get out of jail around Sept. 1st….they know he wont be ready to fight after being incarcerated for 3 months to come home and start fighting in two…no way, he’s gonna want to relax and be with family and get back in fighting shape physically and mentally and Bob Arum knows this, and i’m sure is planning on this, so he can then say “look Floyd is ducking us, we want Nov. and he doesn’t”. I don’t need my crystal ball for this one.

HA
"look Floyd is ducking us, we want Nov. and he doesn’t".
This would not surprise me based on the way these camps have spent time trying to bury each other without fighting.
I can deal with a Manny vs Bradley, Floyd vs Alvarez (though he isn’t ready) split. If Manny fights Cotto, I am never giving Arum another dime of my money.
