Pacquiao vs Cotto Rematch: Cotto Denies Agreeing to Terms

Miguel Cotto has issued a statement to Puerto Rican press denying the reports that he's agreed to terms for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao on June 9:

"Do not pay attention to rumors. I have not made any decision yet nor reached any deal regarding my next fight. At the appropriate time, I will directly be announcing my next fight. I am discussing and analyzing options with my team."

It seems like 70% of the time we're instructed to not listen to the rumors, the rumored fight turns out to be true, but maybe this is 30%.

But again, this is the fight that I've been about 97% sure was going to be coming on June 9 for two weeks now. Also, Jinkee said Cotto.

A rematch between Pacquiao and Cotto was reported earlier today, with the indication that Cotto had agreed to terms, and that the fight would take place in Las Vegas. At that time, it was said that an official announcement could come as soon as Monday. Michael Koncz earlier refused to confirm or deny the fight, according to ESPN New York.

With any luck...

…this fight falls apart over a disagreement on the weight, and both fighters move on to bouts fans actually want to see. Cross your fingers. If it’s made, it just proves that promoters (or at least Top Rank) don’t pay any attention at all to fan blogs on boxing web sites!

No, they don’t pay any attention to us, because despite everyone insisting they won’t buy the next show, the numbers never drop in any notable way. We’re filled with empty threats at best.

I can't argue

I’d buy this one, too. Just like watching these guys fight too much, even if a second time against each other does neither one any good, except financially.

i totally agree with ya man.

It's not the creed, religion nor the nationality that counts, but the man himself

I'd much rather see Miguel face Floyd than Manny again

Maybe the Money Team is trying to snipe Miguel at the last moment as if he were on E-Bay

Right?

How without offering him ‘big’ money (which would mean less for Floyd) are they going to do that?

I really don’t get the beef with this fight happening, is it just internet fans moaning about anything and everything again?

The first was good, and will probably be even better this time. Surely a competitive fight is better than a Bradley or Peterson mismatch?
