WHO WILL FLOYD FIGHT NEXT

Once he leaves his stainless steel cell in a couple of months and returns home to the comfort of he Big Boy Mansion, Floyd will IMO begin plotting his return to the ring, if he has not already done so.

And being the mega-star that he is, he will have unlimited options; a fact that will allow him the luxury of choosing the opponent, the terms, the time and the place as is his want.

Now I am assuming that he does indeed fight again. There are some concerns that he may just decide he's had enough but I am not one to subscribe to that notion.

When he does fight I am convinced that Floyd, despite not having the proper diet and execise while in county that he might otherwise have prepared for him at home/camp, will return in good form. After all, he is without question a exqusitely tooled and professional athlete dedicated to keeping in shape at all times. He has proven ready and capaple of stellar performances after long layoffs time and time again.

I anticipate him taking a few months to getting settled after being released. By that time, he should have met his other constitutional requirement to the IRS in mid-April and then be ready to start cashing new deposits by June.

The question is who do you think he will fight and more importantly who would you like to see him fight?

Ortiz is an immediate gimme (if ortiz feels “human” that is)… he can fight winner of alexander maidana. Andre berto can be up there, lamont peterson who “dominated” floyd in their sparring session in vegas before marquez fight, or Bradley.

I’d love to see FMJr fight Khan. Imagine Khan’s facial expression by R2.

Oh yeah. Floyd would win not by Knockout, but by Khan not being able to get up off the canvas after Floyd ties Khan’s shoelaces together over the course of Round 4.

He can bring back the “DDT”. I always say Con’s best rival would be Usain Bolt. But seriously, Khan’s height reach and volume would give mayweahter some problems. his energy level and volume itself would be something to behold even for mayweather. but id on’t see mayweather would fight him. stylistically khan has all the advantages and physically too, but ya know, once he goes into “dumb mode” there’s no stopping it! and if peterson can time that shoulder roll off the right hand, boy will khan be in for a surprise! a decent fight all the more, but i say khan left all of us with a bad impression esp. post peterson fight. King Con, what’s next?

Khan does pose some challenges for Mayweather, but the gulf in ring IQ and boxing ability is so huge I see a pretty wide win or even KO for Mayweather. Mayweather can adapt, Khan has shown he cannot.

Khan’s stagnation in terms of fighter development is troubling as well. He’s got a lot to learn to pose much of a threat to Floyd.

by Sammlung on Jan 3, 2012 1:57 PM EST up reply actions

I’ll put it this way: I see Khan punching a lot at the start, getting countered hard when he lunges in as he likes to do, and getting whooped thereafter.

It might be a glorified zab judah fight. I dun think May can knock him out, but he can put on some hurt…

Khan might be maxing out but I’m not dead on him yet. But assuming he doesn’t catch Floyd with an early bomb like he did Maidana, fuggetaboutit.

Floyd will Hatton him late

Floyd vs. Miguel Cotto, finally. I think that one would be very interesting.

Would like to see that one...

as BoxAnne pointed out Cotto will be at a disadvantage with regard to hand speed, but he did exercise some demons by taking care of Margarito. I think he could rough Floyd up some but may get laid out trying to do it. He will be game and it would be interesting in the least I’m thinking.

Completive in that Cotto is a competitor and Floyd is not a KO specialist but that’s about it.

Would like to see that one if Berto can win against Ortiz. Berto has some hand speed for sure and power

I think you may be right

He doesnt have to care who his opponent is in regards to money because he gets the lion’s share regardless so Berto’s not being an attraction mans little.

He was ringside at the first fight and sure enough that was the tell. I think he expected Berto to win (he never tweeted that stub) but he was planning to fight whoever ultimately did, in this case, Ortiz.

Berto’s handspeed is good, but not up to Floyd’s, and his legs are terrible, imo. Very stiff, no flow. Just a sitting duck for Floyd, more so than Ortiz, even though Ortiz was never going to win either. At least until Billy Goat invaded his body, he was sort of holding his own, and even landed a few. I don’t think Berto can get close to Floyd. God, I just got my bill from that fight, I may never buy another one.

Unless Arum blocks it

Cotto seems to be the only logical option. Otherwise, it will be someone like Devon Alexander.

Definitely Fighting Someone on May 5th

He just got a continuance on his sentence till June 1st based on the fact that he has a contract to fight. Hmmmm, the plot thickens.

Ward had to fight Froch for title and glory

Manny can fight whenever his 20 plus million contracts are signed.
Persimmons and Apples. No comparison.

There are journeymen who have to fight with injuries ever day/fight worse than Floyd’s hands years ago and Manny’s eye today. They had no choice.

The choice of doing whatever these two want whenever against whoever is the deterent here.

I think Arum should have….and now has done …exactly what duBoef told the old man to do. Just tell the truth.

Floyd called TdB to …to yell…. about his impression that TR was horning in on ‘his’ date….as if the MGM was going to wait forever to see if Floyd’s legal issues settled in favor of May 5th. He never mentioned Manny in his rant.

In other words, Floyd already knew he has no intention of negotiating and or fighting with Pacquaio. Not now at least.

Arum should have stuck with the truth. That when Floyd was before the court, TR was creating options …four all together…to present to his next week. Full stop.

Pac and May are never going to fight

for as long as either of them can find anyone else at all to fight with. They both know that only one of them will win, and the other will LOSE. And by lose, the fall from grace wiill be so vast, so precipitate, and so absolute that neither of them will face it, and they’d be crazy if they did. Personally, I don’t, and haven’t for some time, believed they’ll ever fight at all, because both believe they can beat anybody else. And if that’s not true, and either loses to anybody else, we default to vast, precipitate, and absolute, such that the fight will never happen even if the one who loses is willing. Not gonna happen, that fight. If it ever happens, it will happen when both have lost, and will no longer be The Fight..

That’s it in a nutshell. Canelo would be nice—-and so would Cotto who would get a nice retirement pay day for his beating. Someone mentioned Canelo-Mayweather as a Nelson-Sanchez and that’s not out of the realm of possibility. Canelo is young enough to bounce back as well. In theory, the Berto-Ortiz winner is a solid money fight but the date of their rematch fouls things up. As for Gurrero, give me a break. No money and no interest IMO.
