Juergen Braehmer To Fight Jose Maria Guerrero This January

Juergen Braehmer has signed on to fight Jose Maria Guerrero at the super middleweight limit. According to Guerrero's promoter Gallego Prada Promotions, the fight will take place in Hamburg, Germany on January 28th. This announcement comes rather quickly after Guerrero was slated to fight British fighter James DeGale. DeGale pulled out of the fight after the co-feature fighter George Groves had pulled out of the card with a hand injury. Guerrero, used to the pain of having a fighter pull out of a fight, went after the former light heavyweight beltholder Braehmer. Braehmer is notorious for bailing on fighters. Last year, he bailed on Beibut Shumenov 3 days before the fight and he also bailed on Nathan Cleverly. For both fights, Braehmer gave the excuse of an eye injury. Based on this data, when do you think that Braehmer is going to bail on this fight? Braehmer has also had a variety of legal troubles outside the ring including assault. Basically Braehmer is not exactly the most likeable character.

This fight will be Braehmer's first fight at the super middleweight limit since 2007, which I find a little strange especially considering that Braehmer won the WBO light heavyweight title. Guerrero has only traveled to Germany twice with most of his fights taking place in his native Spain. His only ‘major' title fight was for the EBU-EU title back in 2003 against Mario Veit in Germany. He lost that fight but remember that Mario Veit also beat Braehmer back in 2006. However Braehmer got his revenge by KOing Veit in a rematch back in 2007. Anyways, I don't expect this fight to ever happen because Braehmer is going to have some sort of eye injury before the fight. Feel free to leave your thoughts on this matchup or which injury that Braehmer is going to have crop up.

Your self-restraint in not putting “to fight” in quotation marks is commendable.

This is an easy build-up-fight – I’m quite sure Braehmer will show up and win.

My guess is he catches smallpox the night before the fight. Either smallpox or the plague

Hope that devastating eye injury of his is all better. Pray for Juergen and Andre Dirrell.

It was a alleged gastro-intestinal disease refering to the Shumenov fight

Last year, he bailed on Beibut Shumenov 3 days before the fight and he also bailed on Nathan Cleverly. For both fights, Braehmer gave the excuse of an eye injury.

This is not correct. Brähmer stated, that he and Mr. Pütz had eaten something wrong in Schymkent and thus were suffering a gastro-intestinal disease.

Yeah, and to be completely precise, he didn’t give the excuse of an eye injury for the cleverly-fight, but of an injury of the eye-lid which he claimed opened up again when he used a towel after showering.
