Andre Berto and Robert Guerrero both say they're excited for their November 24 HBO main event.
Richard Schaefer, Golden Boy Promotions
"When you have two fighters of this caliber going to fight each other, you know you have a very special event. Now, there was a lot of talk about who was going to fight who, there were different names that were thrown into the mix. And I really want to thank two people which were instrumental, three people which were instrumental in making this fight happen. One of them is Al Haymon, the adviser for Andre Berto, who we have a very close relationship with, and we work very well together. He was very instrumental in talking to Robert Guerrero's team, as well, Luis DeCubas Jr and Bob Santos. And they pretty much just worked out the deal.
"We're working with Robert, he's a terrific fighter. We've been promoting Robert's fights for the past several years. And we're working with Andre Berto now, as well. I wanted to make sure that everybody is going to be happy in the process, and I think those two teams worked out a deal and a structure which will make everyone happy.
"When you put a fight together like this, I really believe there are no losers, and the biggest winners are the fight fans, who will have a very special Thanksgiving treat.
"I think when you look at Robert Guerrero, he's probably one of the most underrated world champions, in my opinion. Based on what he has achieved so far, I cannot explain why he is not on the pound-for-pound list. He is a six-time world champion in four different weight classes. And I think he's the kind of fighter who never turns down anyone and is always up to take on the biggest challenges."
"I'm happy to be on, happy to be fighting November 24th. I'm always ready to go. I can't wait for this fight. I'm excited, I've been training hard, I'm always in shape, and I always come to fight. You guys know that. I just can't wait. I can't wait. It's gonna be a great one. We've got 12 hard rounds, and they're gonna be super hard, so be ready for them, guys."
"This fight is a good fight. It's a big fight. I want to thank Golden Boy and HBO, my whole team, Al Haymon. ... I'm excited, man. Everybody knows me, everybody knows my story. I went through a hell of a year within this last year. I've just been training. I'm hungry. This is what I needed, and I'm excited. Training camp is already going ridiculously well. I'm already in great shape, and I'm looking forward to the 24th. I know Robert is excited, and I knwo he's gonna bring a good fight, so I'm excited about it. I'm looking forward to it. I hope everything reaches expectations. I'm definitely coming to fight, so it's going to be exciting."
"This is what the sport needs. I know you're all excited. Fight fans from around the world are thrilled to have this fight. ... Tickets are on sale now, starting at $25 with the top price ticket at $200. ... There's no reason not to go and celebrate Thanksgiving Saturday night at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario."
