Cuban sensation Yuriorkis Gamboa appears to be all but set for the December 8 Pacquiao-Marquez IV undercard, with RingTV.com reporting that the unbeaten former featherweight champ will move up to 130 pounds to face Miguel Beltran Jr.
Gamboa (21-0, 16 KO) hasn't fought since September 2011, when he dominated Daniel Ponce De Leon. He was set to face Brandon Rios at lightweight earlier this year, but pulled out at the last minute, the start of a major dispute that saw him wind up in court with his promoters at Top Rank, where eventually he was freed from his promotional deal with them.
After that, Gamboa signed with 50 Cent's TMT Promotions, which is now SMS Promotions. The outfit bought him out from the Top Rank deal. In the end, his first fight back will be on a Top Rank card. Go figure.
Beltran Jr (27-2, 17 KO) lost a close and very exciting fight to Rocky Martinez on the Chavez Jr-Martinez PPV undercard on September 15, and is a good opponent after a lengthy layoff. Gamboa will be favored to win, of course, but I don't think there's anyone at 126 or 130 he wouldn't be favored to beat.
