Martin Murray had no trouble with Jorge Navarro of Venezuela, potentially setting up a fight next spring with Sergio Martinez.

Martin Murray had as little trouble as everyone expected today with Venezuela's Jorge Navarro, routing the novice and scoring a sixth round TKO win when Navarro's corner waved the white flag of surrender, possibly setting up a fight for Murray next spring against middleweight world champion Sergio Martinez.

Murray (25-0-1, 11 KO) dropped the inexperienced and badly outclassed Navarro (12-1, 10 KO) in the first round, then basically carried the fight from the second through the fifth round. It was a way for Murray to get some rounds in, as it was his first fight since June 16, and stopping Navarro in two or so wouldn't have been the best thing if there is the intention to fight Martinez next in April.

A win is a win, but there's little to read into this one. Navarro simply didn't belong in the ring with Murray, and the fact that this was sanctioned by the WBA as an interim world title fight was laughable. But that's not to take away from Martin Murray, really. You can't go nuts about this win, but he didn't sanction the fight, and he didn't make the match, either. He just went out and fought, and won handily.

On Martinez, Murray said, "I will go over to Argentina to fight him, and I'm confident of beating him."

Our live coverage of Hatton vs Senchenko continues here, with Ricky Hatton's return to the ring coming up next, with ringwalks due to start in 30-45 minutes.
