Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao pass Nevada post-fight drug tests

Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao were clean on their post-fight drug tests with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao were both clean on their post-fight drug tests conducted by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which should be no surprise to anyone.

Ultimately, it also proves basically nothing, but it's news.

Marquez (55-6-1, 40 KO) knocked out Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 KO) in the sixth round on December 8 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in one of the biggest and most exciting fights of the year. Before the fight, there was a lot of chatter about Marquez's transformed physique and his association with controversial trainer Memo Hernandez, and that combined with years of speculation about Pacquiao made for a situation where there was, before the fight, arguably more talk about performance-enhancing drugs than there was about the matchup between two modern greats.

But the tests have been passed, and that's about all there is to it at the moment. Marquez has said that he'll gladly do "Olympic" style drug testing next time he fights, and promoter Bob Arum has said that he'd like to enforce extra testing for next year's probable fifth fight between the two, but that all remains to be seen.
