This afternoon from Germany, Arthur Abraham defends his WBO super middleweight title against Mehdi Bouadla.
Today from Arena Nürnberger Versicherung in Nuremberg, Germany, Arthur Abraham makes the first defense of his WBO super middleweight title, taking on France's Mehdi Bouadla in what is expected to be a fairly easy fight.
Abraham, now a two-division world titlist, finally broke through at 168 pounds earlier this year against Robert Stieglitz, winning a close fight and capturing a 168-pound world title on his third attempt. Though he's seen as a class below the top-tier fighters like Andre Ward, Carl Froch, and Mikkel Kessler, Abraham is solidly in the mix with the rest of the super middleweight division.
A win today could set up a bigger fight next year, too, or at least that will be the hope. ARD will air the fight in Germany, with that broadcast starting at 4:15 pm EST, and the fight will also be shown as part of BoxNation's big afternoon of coverage, which includes the Groves-Johnson bill from London.
BLH will have round-by-round coverage.
Fight time: 2:00 pm EST (BoxNation) / 4:15 pm EST (ARD)
