Kevin Mitchell vs Felix Lora: Live Results and Round-By-Round Coverage
The show is already live on BoxNation in the UK, so join us for some afternoon boxing from York Hall in London.
In the 10-round main event, lightweight contender Kevin Mitchell (32-1, 24 KO) is staying busy against Felix Lora (14-8-5, 8 KO), a Dominican-born fighter now living in Spain. It's a mismatch on paper, and Mitchell says he's taking the fight purely to get some rounds in and stay busy. He's not fought since his impressive win last July over John Murray, which won British Fight of the Year.
Mitchell is hoping to use this fight as a springboard to face WBO lightweight titlist Ricky Burns, who is in action on March 10 against Paulus Moses.
Also on the card:
Welterweights, 8 Rounds
Bradley Skeete (6-0, 2 KO) vs Laszlo Komjathi (41-37-2, 16 KO)
Junior Welterweights, 6 Rounds

Lightweights, 6 Rounds

4-1 Morgan. Naylor landed better shots in fifth, but this is basically in the bag.
I’m SHOCKED no one else is watching this, btw.

Actually, I mostly am, though this one’s such a foregone conclusion I went out to feed the birds.

Pretty much a card full of foregone conclusions, really.

Morgan got the W. 58-56 on my card, probably same on the ref’s card. Easy fight to score.

Jeez some of these journeyman have a ton of losses. Jason Nesbitt (9-139-3, 6 KO), Matt Seawright (3-53-2, 0 KO), and Ryan Clark has 49 losses.

Ted says that’s different in England than here, that they’re pretty good and really just go into the ring to teach, sort of glorified sparring, I guess. I think that’s what he means anyway. Not as battered as they sound, in other words.

Yeah, that’s more or less the deal. A lot of these guys who are 9-139 or whatever are a hell of a lot better than some of these Oklahoma club guys who run up 20-0 records.

Saunders gets a very premature stoppage over Nesbitt in his pro debut. Nesbitt was pushing him harder than may have been expected.

He’s a little guilty of watching his punches. He throws a combo and then just leaves his hands down. Clark popped him a couple times and Frank is going to have problems with counter-punchers but at least he is fun to watch.

He does, but I think he’s pretty solid. He could stand to be more honest, he’s a bit chummy about everything. Maybe when he’s not an active fighter.
I also wish he’d just do this and forget about fighting since I don’t want to see him get beaten up anymore. He’s too nice of a guy.

These guys eulogizing about Mitchell's win over Murray.
Rios demolished Murray without eating for five days, Mitchell won a back and forth contest. It was a good win and a good performance but I wish they would tone it down a little.

Mitchell vs Lora Round 1

Hey, Lora falls down halfway into the round. No knockdown. Lora swinging wild shots and Mitchell just in there to stand around, not throwing his hands.
Bleh.

Mitchell vs Lora Round 2

Mitchell still doing nothing, then he hits Lora with a counter left and down goes Lora, who sits there for a bit. Now he’s back up and Mitchell is considering whether to finish this or try to get rounds in. Lora trying to make him fight. Good for Lora.
Mitchell stands on the ropes and takes shots, just keeping his head out of the way. This is on TV.

Mitchell vs Lora Round 3

This fight continuing has nothing to do with Felix Lora. If Ricky Burns and his trainer are watching this to scout Kevin Mitchell, they’re on more dope than Mitchell was arrested for.
Lora chasing Mitchell around, trying to throw wild shots and land, but not coming close. “Good boxing by Kevin.” Sure. Better boxing would be saving this for the gym and fighting someone with a remote chance of winning.
