Tonight's edition of Friday Night Fights is live at 9 p.m. EST on ESPN2 and ESPN3, and Bad Left Hook will have live, round-by-round coverage and immediate post-fight analysis.
In the 10-round main event, Mike Dallas Jr (17-2-1, 7 KO) looks to get back on track after a pair of 2011 losses on ESPN, the first a seventh-round knockout at the hands of Josesito Lopez in January, and the second a debatable decision against Maurico Herrera in June.
The 25-year-old Dallas has been working with Virgil Hunter, Andre Ward's trainer, so we'll see if he's made any improvements. His opponent tonight is Miguel "Silky Smooth" Gonzalez (20-2, 15 KO), a Cleveland fighter looking to make his mark.
In the video below, ESPN analyst Teddy Atlas says that he's heard Gonzalez, 26, isn't in "top shape" and "might be coming off an injury":
In the co-feature, Shawn Estrada (13-0, 12 KO) returns for yet another baby step against Terrance Woods (9-3, 6 KO) in a fight that arguably shouldn't even be happening. With a contracted weight of 172 pounds, which was bumped up slightly last week, Estrada weighed in yesterday at 196, compared to Woods' 177. Another big win for the Texas commission letting this fight go ahead. Estrada, a former Olympian, has yet to distinguish himself as a top prospect in the pro ranks, having battled some injuries thus far, and this development isn't exactly making fight fans root for him to get on course, either.
