Tonight's Chavez vs Rubio undercard is streaming live via Top Rank's web site, and you can watch the fights there or just above here in the embedded player.
Featured on the undercard tonight is junior middleweight motormouth Vanes Martirosyan (31-0, 19 KO), taking another easy stay-busy fight against 41-year-old club fighter Troy Lowry (28-11, 17 KO). Martirosyan, 25, is starting to take more and more heat for his matchups, as they seem to be getting worse while he complains about not getting big fights. In his last three fights, Martirosyan has stepped down some each time, going from game veteran Saul Roman to indifferent veteran Richard Gutierrez and now a guy who has no business in the ring with him.
Also featured tonight is welterweight prospect Wale "Lucky Boy" Omotoso (20-0, 17 KO). Omotoso's first two fights with Top Rank haven't exactly been smooth, with rocky victories over Calvin Odom and Lanardo Tyner. Tonight he takes a little step back against Nestor Rosas (11-2, 7 KO), and you wonder if perhaps Top Rank hasn't figured he needs some more work before making any big moves.
Tonight marks the setting of a new standard for Bad Left Hook, as from this point forward, when a full undercard is available, we will be covering the event live from start to finish.

Featherweights: Ricardo Valencia UD-4 Jeremy Longoria (38-37, 39-36, 39-36)
The stream came in live late on this one, so I can’t score it, but Raul Marquez for Top Rank had it 39-36 for Valencia and the fight reportedly had plenty of action. This is the first win for Valencia (1-2-1, 0 KO), and the first loss for Longoria (3-1, 1 KO). Longoria was knocked down on a body shot.

Najera vs Castillo Round 1
Castillo coming out winging shots, and Najera is willing to do that with him. Right hand from Najera. This looks like a probable brawl. Left hook from Castillo.
“He turned pro in 1998 but was out for a couple of years.” A couple, 12, whatever.
Najera’s 19. Castillo with a body shot left hand, and Najera is just there to fire shots. Castillo has some gumption. Man these two are throwing leather. Castillo with a decent shot on Najera. Najera criticized by Raul for throwing arm punches. Big right from Najera. Big combo from Najera, and he shakes Castillo a bit. Castillo pops him with a left hook.
This is all offense. Just how I like my four-rounders.

More offense. Castillo getting shaken a bit more this round. HUGE left hook from Najera, then an amazing flurry and down goes Castillo! About eight punches landed before Castillo finally hit the mat. He’s up and Najera’s going for the KO. Najera loading up, and man, Castillo is able to connect with Najera more than he should be, probably.
HUMONGOUS knockdown on another combo, and the fight is stopped by the referee. Woof!

Omotoso starting cautiously. I don’t know what it is in America but he’s just not the fighter he was in Australia so far. Rosas gets bored and swings a horrible overhand right from about 11 feet away. Rosas with a little flurry. Good right from Omotoso. Pretty shitty round.

Omotoso vs Rosas Round 4
I think Rosas’ corner thinks this is a four-round fight. That or they plan to quit after this one.
Omotoso imposing his will this round, really cracking him. Rosas is getting beaten up now. This has turned into an obscene mismatch, which it was on paper. Right hands and left hands and Rosas is getting pummeled near the bell.

My Top Rank audio stream from their site is odd. I’m listening to it on stereo computer speakers, and the fights sounds, punching, and ref are coming our of my left channel exclusively, with the announcers coming solely out of the right speaker.

Martirosyan vs Lowry Round 1
Well it takes about 12 seconds for this to look embarrassing. Lowry’s getting killed. And 50 seconds in, Lowry goes down on a left hook to the body. This is an absolute piece of shit. Total garbage.
I can’t put into words how nauseating I find this fight. Lowry has no business in there. How long do they plan to protect Martirosyan? His record makes JCC Jr’s look like Ali’s.

Lowry’s bloody, getting beaten up. Laurence Cole should just step in and get this the fuck over with the next time a clean shot knocks Lowry backwards. There is no point to this whatsoever.
How can Martirosyan take another step back after THIS? Is he gonna fight someone in their pro debut? Is he going to fight someone with a losing record? Does Yori Boy Campas still make 154?
Lowry takes a shot to the balls, I guess, and now he’s taking time. People are booing. They should be booing the fact that they paid money and this piece of crap fight was part of the card.
