Kevin Mitchell to Face Felix Lora on February 10

Kevin Mitchell will make his return to London next week for the first time since his horror defeat to Michael Katsidis.

Mitchell will face Barcelona based Dominican Republican Felix Lora over ten rounds at lightweight, in what will be his first fight since his fantastic win over John Murray in July 2011.

Star-divide

With Mitchell hoping for a future fight with WBO Champ Ricky Burns, he's determined to put on a show against Lora and impress the viewing public once more.

It's going to be a massive East End crowd at the York Hall and I can't wait to put on a knockout show in front of my fans against Lora. This is the first time since the Michael Katsidis fight in 2010 that I've fought and I've had a cracking win against Murray in Manchester so this will be a nice homecoming for me.

A fight with Burns is a massive incentive to make sure I'm looking at my best on the night and it's a fight I'd love to have next.

Let's be honest here, we know Mitchell should find this a walk in the park. But it gets him warmed up for a bigger fight which could possibly be Burns. It also gives him the chance to get over his London jinx...with the possibility that the Burns fight could be in London maybe at the 02. The fight will be screened live on BoxNation and will be promoted by Frank Warren of course. So a Mitchell win, and hopefully another strong performance which would line him up nicely for a showdown with Burns, or maybe another title holder.

This article could be written more clearly ...

Kevin doesn’t have a ‘London’ jinx, he simply lost to Katsidis there (his only loss). Since then, he beat John Murray last July in Liverpool.

I can see your point and maybe I could have put it a little better, but his defeat was that bad it’s going to be in his mind. Remember the show was all around him and he got shown up on his own bill.

Not saying he isn’t a good boxer because he is a very good boxer. But the manner of the defeat was the reason I put it, but I take your point on board.

It’s an easy fight, obviously, but clearly meant to keep him busy to lead to a Burns fight. Not a Martirosyan special.
