I'm not always fully aware of promotional situations with every fighter out there but i am just going to list ten fights that i would like to see.
Feel free to let me know whether you think a certain fight will happen, won't happen (and why) and also which fights you would like to see:
1/ Yuriorkis Gamboa vs. Adrien Broner
I'm pretty sure this is a Top Rank vs GBP situation, but i would love to see these two collide. I'd go with Broner here.
2/ Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Brandon Rios
It has been mentioned that there is a possibility this could occur on the Top Rank Dallas Cowboys Stadium show slated for the summer time. I really hope so. I see it as a can't miss war and it would go a long way towards making up for the disappointment of the collapse of Rios - Gamboa, imo.
3/ Andre Ward vs Lucian Bute
Of course Bute has to get by Carl Froch in Froch's hometown yet, but i think he will, and i think everyone wants to see him face Ward. I imagine it happens late this year or early next year.
4/ Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather
I had to stick this one in somewhere. It might have lost some of it's appeal by now and boxing fans are seemingly quite sick of hearing about it, but if both keep winning, it obviously needs to happen. If not this year i wouldn't bother though.
5/ Miguel Cotto vs Saul Alvarez
Another TR vs GBP obstacle, but i really like this matchup.
6/ Marcos Maidana vs Lucas Mathysse
Two highly ranked 140lb Argentine punchers going at it.
7/ Nonito Donaire vs Toshiaki Nishioka
To find out who the top dog is at 122lbs. I'm not sure how well the styles would mesh, but it needs to happen, this year preferably.
8/ Juan Manuel Marquez vs Erik Morales
Would love to see this as the final piece to the round robin between Pacquiao, Marquez, Morales and Barrera. Surely it would be big news in Mexico too.
9/ Orlando Salido vs Mikey Garcia
This will probably happen later in the year or maybe next year. With a bit more seasoning Garcia should be ready to make the step up.
10/ Nathan Cleverly vs Ismael Sillakh
Interesting matchup of unbeaten, young light-heavyweights. My money would be on Sillakh, but i'm sure Cleverly would at the very least make him work for it, or maybe he might even fight smart for once.
Any suggestions, solutions or predictions?
