Last July, Vitali Klitschko watched his brother dominate David Haye. Is Haye next for big brother? (Photo by Martin Rose/Bongarts/Getty Images)
David Haye says on Twitter this afternoon, just moments before the coming Wladimir Klitschko vs Jean Marc Mormeck fight, that Vitali Klitschko has agreed to fight him next:
If true (and I know he said it was stated on RTL, the Klitschkos' German network, but you never know with Haye), then it's going to be met with mixed reaction at best, I figure.
There are those who do want to see Vitali fight Haye, largely a demographic that would like to see Haye "shut up" for his constant talking and knocked out by Klitschko. Though little brother Wladimir thoroughly dominated Haye last July, he did not knock him out, and big brother has said since then that it's a goal of his: To finish what his brother started.
We'll see if anything more comes of this, but it's no guarantee, even if they both truly want it. The camps have difficulty negotiating with one another, and Haye would have to reapply for a boxing license, too, which the British Boxing Board of Control has indicated may not be an automatic following his controversial brawl with Dereck Chisora on February 18.
