Amir Khan and Danny Garcia weigh in today for tomorrow night's HBO and Sky Sports main event from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, with both defending junior welterweight titles. Garcia is bringing the WBC belt to the table, and Khan the WBA belt in the 140-pound fight.
Khan (26-2, 18 KO) is a fairly heavy favorite in the bout against the unbeaten Garcia (23-0, 14 KO), who has scored the two best wins of his career in his last two outings against Kendall Holt and Erik Morales. Britain's Khan represents another step up the ladder into the true top tier of the junior welterweight division.
For Khan, it's another HBO and Sky main event, a familiar position, and it would be a stretch to say that Garcia is an abnormally big fight or abnormally tough opponent for him. But Khan has been upset before -- twice, in fact, and with pretty heavy odds in his favor -- so this could be a sleeper fight for those who are thinking it's going to be easy for Amir.
