Hey guys, excuse the rant. Here are a few fights that could be made and would be fun:
.) Ortiz vs. Rios - They have history of disliking each other and Ortiz talking smack. Both have exciting styles and marketable fanbase, and both are Mexican American. The buildup would be great, and the fight would be pretty good.
.) Garcia vs. Lopez - It seems they both had huge wins in their careers and off of hellacious left hooks. They're about the same size, and a good trilogy could come out of this I believe.
.) Canelo vs. Kirkland - I strong believe that this could be a FOTY candidate if they both get crackin'.
.) Gary Russell vs. Broner vs. Mikey Garcia - Extreme talent, a lot of promise, similar weight divisions. I like Russell's speed, volume, aggression and underrated defense. I like Broner's quickness, shoulder roll, and counter punching. I like Garcia's patient and cool approach, his sharp counters, and his huge leverage on his well measured shots.
.) Donaire vs. Nishioka. What can I say? Nishioka is the 122lb. king. Donaire needs a good opponent to prove himself. If it were a four man tournament I'd add Mares and Rigodeaux. I know promoters, and egoes, and purses might get in the way, but a fan can dream right?!!
.) Lucas Matthysse vs Marcos Maidana : Battle for Argentina! I'd pick Matthysse any day: The more skilled, smarter, just as heavy handed if not more, and accurate puncher. From what I've seen Matthysse can take a shot too. I think someone mentioned in Pakin's thread about Matthysse vs. Garcia. That would be fun too! Throw Devon Alexander or Bradley in the mix too, do a 143 tournament. Try to get Lopez after he's done with the Canelo fight.
.) Get some lightweights to mix it up: Antonio DeMarco, Mercito Gesta, Ricky Burns, Acosta, Linares etc. I still like this division.
.) Khan vs. Ortiz: Speed for power, thunder and lightning. I think if they both do well in a tune up fight they could be matched immediately at a comfortable 147, and despite what pple say about Khan's chin, he still has top elite level courage and heart, and Ortiz has power, underrated speed, but when faced with strong and intelligent opposition like Peterson, Maidana, Mayweather, and Lopez he wilts. I would pay to watch this!
That's it guys, Have a good day!
