Welcome to part one of a two-part set of live coverage for today's Olympic boxing in London, as we'll be seeing the round of 32 today in the bantamweight and middleweight divisions. We'll see six fights in each division this morning, and six more fights in each division this afternoon.
The morning bouts will start at 8:30 a.m. EDT with the bantamweights in action, and Team USA will be up first, as Joseph Diaz Jr will face Pavlo Ishchenko of Ukraine in the opening bout of this summer games boxing action.
Also notably in action for most of our (US and UK) readers will be middleweight Anthony Ogogo of Great Britain at 10 a.m. EDT against Junior Castillo Martinez of the Dominican Republic. Irish bantamweight John Joe Nevin also fights this morning, facing Dennis Ceylan of Denmark at 9:15 a.m. EDT.
We'll have a separate post later for the afternoon fights, and full results and analysis for each bout all day, every day, until the Olympics conclude in two weeks time. We're hoping you'll be with us every step of the way. Let's get things started.
American viewers with a cable subscription can stream everything online at NBCOlympics.com, and CNBC will also be airing the fights.
