Adrien Broner and his brush did a six-minute video that either exposes his insanity, or makes him more likable. That's for you to decide. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images)
If you've been here a while, you know that I haven't been the world's biggest Adrien Broner fan. While I admire his tremendous natural ability, Broner's personality has rubbed me the wrong way so far over his brief pro career as a name fighter, and I just haven't taken to him the way some have.
I do not, however, deny his star potential or clear appeal. He scored an impressive ratings number for his July 21 fight with Vicente Escobedo, and it's a little hard to buy that Escobedo, a guy whose pro career has frankly fallen well short of early expectations, with no real fan base, was responsible for that rating. It was all Broner. Like it or not, he's a star fighter, and has very, very big potential in that regard.
However, here are two things you might not know about me: I generally start to take to guys who are possibly crazy and/or truly don't give a damn about what someone like me might think of something.
With the following video, which I contend is the YouTube video of the year, Broner has convinced me of both of those things being not just likely, but probable. Adrien Broner doing a six-minute bit where he speaks as his hairbrush may have me doing a 180, or at least about a 120. I'm also relatively certain that most of you will not find this as ridiculously hilarious as I do.
