The quarterfinals are here on the men's side of Olympic boxing in London, and the bantamweights and heavyweights are first up this afternoon, starting at 3:30 EDT. We'll have full results and round-by-round updates.

CNBC is live again today for American viewers. Or you can watch almost-live at NBCOlympics.com.

Top three fights/reasons to watch this afternoon:

1. (Bantamweight) John Joe Nevin (Ireland) vs Oscar Valdez (Mexico): Valdez has been great fun to watch in each of his first two bouts, and Nevin has shown to be a classy operator. This is another tough task for Valdez, but so far he's been able to dig deep and gut past guys who may well be more suited to the Olympic scoring system. Can he do it again?

2. (Heavyweight) Jose Larduet (Cuba) vs Clemente Russo (Italy): Well, we haven't actually seen either of these guys fight yet, so that's interesting. Russo got a walkover forfeit win against the Angola representative, who didn't show up for the weigh-in, while Larduet was on the other side of Iran's Ali Mazaheri being repulsively disqualified.

3. (Bantamweight) Lazaro Alvarez (Cuba) vs Robenilson Vieira (Brazil): I don't think Vieira has it to beat the Cuban, who knocked off Joseph Diaz Jr of the United States in the round of 16 in a really good fight. But Diaz did give Alvarez reason to work hard in that fight, and he looked far from invincible. We've seen some top-rated fighters fall already.
