Though the main event wasn't competitive in the ring, the show was definitely a success, both artistically and commercially.

The undercard was filled with action, and you certainly couldn't call the main event -- with Canelo hammering an almost tragically determined Josesito Lopez -- boring. The event sold out at the MGM Grand, even with Chavez Jr vs Martinez down the road at the Thomas & Mack Center (a sellout itself), and it drew the highest-ever rating for a Showtime boxing broadcast, peaking at around 1.04 million viewers.
