Edwin Rodriguez was too big, too strong, and too much for Jason Escalera in the HBO Boxing After Dark main event from Foxwoods.

ROUND 7
Escalera keeps trying. And he loses his mouthpiece again. Smoger with a second "next time is a point" warning. Rodriguez landing power shots again. I've kind of lost keen interest in this fight. It's not competitive.
Edwin Rodriguez 10-9, 70-62
ROUND 8
left hand to the ear, it’s bloodied, and Smoger stops the fight.
Edwin Rodriguez TKO-8
Looks like it basically exploded his ear. Good stoppage by referee Steve Smoger. Smoger did a good job overall in this one, ready to stop the fight in these last two rounds, and he got it right.

ROUND 4
Mouthpiece flies out again this round and Escalera gets it back after a bit, with Smoger warning him that the next time will be a point. "Ya gotta bite down." And now a low blow from Edwin as this fight starts turning into slop. Back to action after a brief recovery, and Rodriguez gets back to work. Escalera is landing some shots this round, and he's got guts.
Edwin Rodriguez 10-9, 40-35
ROUND 5
Escalera doing OK this round, but then Rodriguez lands a good flurry and we're back to him physically overwhelming Escalera. You know, I think Escalera has tools, but this fight combined with the last one, he doesn't do enough with them. Escalera hurt on a right, and now here we go with Rodriguez trying to close it - Smoger jumps but doesn't stop it. Smoger keeping an eye on it right now. Escalera hanging on, doing a decent job surviving. He's gonna make it out of this round.
Edwin Rodriguez 10-9, 50-44
ROUND 6
Escalera has tools, but way too much work to do. Rodriguez is a finished product. Escalera is not. HBO should not have approved this - the Dulorme fight they refused for October was as good as this. Rodriguez continues winning the fight handily. Rodriguez hurt him again at the end of the round.
Edwin Rodriguez 10-9, 60-53

ROUND 1
Well Rodriguez lands a left hook and Escalera’s mouthpiece flies away in three seconds. That gets fixed when there’s a lull. Rodriguez is pouring it on and there goes the mouthpiece again. Escalera’s hurt. Body shots are landing, Escalera is being pushed back. I did expect a mismatch here, but this is pretty sorry so far. Right hand Rodriguez. Body work again. Escalera’s getting killed in there. Right hand. Last count was 45-3 this round in power punches for Rodriguez. This is ridiculous.
Edwin Rodriguez 10-8, and that might be generous
ROUND 2
Rodriguez just sort of bashing him around. This is a woeful mismatch, not a surprise after Escalera’s last fight, a draw with Nick Brinson on FNF. Escalera doing better this round, but it’s kind of like doing better the second time you work at the mill, because your hand didn’t get cut off this time and now you just do paperwork. Still lost the round.
Edwin Rodriguez 10-9, 20-17
ROUND 3
Rodriguez may have wasted energy in the first round, even though he’s still winning this fight and landing shots. That must be that Ronnie Shields influence. Left hooks from Edwin. Body shots from Rodriguez.
Edwin Rodriguez 10-9, 30-26

Vic Darchinyan pulled a vintage performance out in his super bantamweight debut, dominating prospect Luis Del Valle over 10 rounds en route to an unanimous decision victory on HBO.

ROUND 7
As Darchinyan takes the first two minutes of the round again, Del Valle finally lands a nice right hand that hurts Darchinyan a bit, and now Del Valle has some confidence. Body shot by Vic, but Orlandito back with a hook. Another big shot from Vic. Another with a left to the mush. Right to the MUSH. Del Valle had a better round here, and still got out-fought.
Vic Darchinyan 10-9, 70-63
ROUND 8
Darchinyan continues to win the fight right now as Kellerman and HBO chase the sad piano music corner stoppage story by pestering Del Valle's trainer. Del Valle is just out of this fight in a lot of ways. He can't figure Darchinyan out, and never has in this fight. He's had moments, nothing more.
Vic Darchinyan 10-9, 80-72
ROUND 9
Del Valle is trying his ass off, but he can't crack the code. Darchinyan being a little safer - it's not easy to tell when Darchinyan is fighting safe but - OH! DARCHINYAN TAGGED! Del Valle has him hurt and he's going at him, but Vic is smart enough to hold. And fight back, too. Right hand Del Valle. Del Valle pouring it on and going at him. Darchinyan throwing goofy shots right now. Right hand connects again.
Luis Del Valle 10-9, Vic Darchinyan 89-82
ROUND 10
Darchinyan throws an uppercut, and he’s winging power shots to start the final round. And he’s landing some, too. Del Valle with a short right. He’s got to get aggressive here with half the round left. He can’t afford to do anything less than go for the KO. Left from Vic, and he’s fighting him off again basically. Del Valle with a little right hand. Darchinyan is dog tired but leaving all he’s got in the ring. Del Valle tries to fight his way in, and Darchinyan picks him off with power shots. Left hand Vic.
Vic Darchinyan 10-9, 99-91
OFFICIAL SCORES
99-91, 99-91, 96-94 for Vic Darchinyan.

ROUND 4
Heads are clashing like hell in there and Del Valle might be cut on the nose because of one. Del Valle trying to fight with Vic, and I think he’s having a little success. A right hand got to Darchinyan there, and Vic’s hands are going super low, and he’s getting a little wild and slower on offense. Left hand from Darchinyan stings Del Valle. And another one lands. Del Valle is losing the round again, but Vic appears to be tiring.
Vic Darchinyan 10-9, 40-36
ROUND 5
Del Valle landing a few in the first minute here. Heads still coming together. Right hand from Del Valle. Darchinyan finally being timed somewhat this round. Vic’s output is dropping somewhat, it seems, or at least the effective output. Left hand from Darchinyan gets in right after I say that – I don’t think Vic’s power is much at this weight, honestly. He’s landed a bunch. Uppercut gets in. Darchinyan roughing it up. Closer round, but I think Vic nicks it.
Vic Darchinyan 10-9, 50-45
ROUND 6
Darchinyan keeping it rough, landing power shots, and now Darchinyan is getting super confident. Del Valle with a body shot. Darchinyan DRILLING him with power shots in the final minute. He's really dominating this round with pure aggression. Brute power. Big round for Vic.
Vic Darchinyan 10-9, 60-54

ROUND 1
Darchinyan jabbing a bit to start the fight. He doesn't look particularly small up at 122 or anything. He looks downright spry early. Del Valle a little uncomfortable with Vic and his deranged crab approach to boxing. Roy isn't high on Del Valle's right hand. Darchinyan seems to be mentally winning this first round as much as anything. Popping with the jab here and there. Now they start to throw a little, and Del Valle is the guy who holds. Del Valle looking for that money hook toward the end of the round.
Vic Darchinyan 10-9
ROUND 2
Darchinyan throwing his left, but Del Valle sneaks in a quick little hook. That could be the difference-maker if Vic is Vic and eventually gets overly aggressive. Quick little exchange. Del Valle is fighting better than Perez did, but they both seem a bit surprised by the level of their opponents. Darchinyan may have gotten in a headbutt. Now Del Valle shows something, and Darchinyan GETS TO SWINGIN’! Oh boy, this could get nasty and fast, and I’m lovin’ it. Now we’ve got a brawl to end the round. Woo! This is pickin’ up!
Vic Darchinyan 10-9, 20-18
ROUND 3
OK, they're fucking fighting now. Katie, bar the door. Darchinyan is being aggressive but Del Valle is having a lot of trouble timing his awkward charges, which isn't something new to Darchinyan fights (opponents having trouble figuring out his style, I mean). Right hook Darchinyan. Left hand Darchinyan. Right hand again from Darchinyan. Del Valle's just not landing enough right now. Darchinyan is testing this kid's desire in a big way. But Vic's also pushing a pace he might not be good for at 36 and as a super bantamweight. Right hook from Darchinyan again.
Vic Darchinyan 10-9, 30-27

Antonin Decarie was surprisingly dominant tonight on HBO Boxing After Dark, stopping prospect Alex Perez in the sixth round of their welterweight fight.

ROUND 4
There's nothing Perez has done better than Decarie so far. Body shots getting in, right hand has been the main weapon, the jab has given Perez pause at times, too. He's just a better fighter than Perez. Now they trade! Both are feeling the power at the moment, and we've got a tense bit of action here. Decarie comes through it well and takes another round, just landing more good shots. Perez got a bit going here, though.
Antonin Decarie 10-9, 40-36
ROUND 5
Smacking right hook from Perez. Decarie is slowing down a bit - Roy notes that the bouncing has stopped and he's getting a little more flat-footed. But the rights are still landing. Decarie is still in control this round, though Perez is making minor strides. And then he stops making them, as Decarie drills him in the mush with those right hands.
Antonin Decarie 10-9, 50-45
ROUND 6
I’m honestly not sure that Perez expected a challenge here. I think he thought he was getting some limp-wristed foreigner who couldn’t handle his American badassery. Decarie just keeps popping him with right hands. If he were a bigger puncher, Perez would have been on his ass a while ago. They keep talking about Perez’s power, but it really hasn’t shown up here. His KO rate is better than Decarie’s, but is his power really that much better? Decarie NAILS HIM WITH A HOOK AND PEREZ IS DOWN! I guess that answers my question there. Perez up, but he’s not on good legs. HUGE RIGHT! ANOTHER BIG SHOT! Referee needs to step in here. IT’S OVER!
Antonin Decarie TKO-6

ROUND 1
Perez missing a lot in the first minute and a half, both guys feeling each other out. Decarie's shots only getting to the gloves. Decarie with a left hook, landing to the body now. Left to the body from Perez, the southpaw. Right hand down the middle from Decarie. Perez is awkward in the opening, pops a couple little right hooks, Decarie lands again.
Antonin Decarie, 10-9
ROUND 2
Max and Roy argue about whether or not Decarie's bouncing for a reason or not. Perez just can't land so far - range would seem to suit him, but he hasn't found it yet. Decarie's little rushes are working. Big right from Decarie and Perez is hurt! Another one lands! Perez on the ropes, trying to hold, but can't grab Decarie. Right hand to the glove, but also the side of the head. Perez looks shaky, but he's getting the legs back just a bit. Decarie not pressing for anything big just yet.
Antonin Decarie 10-9, 20-18
ROUND 3
There's no rhythm or purpose to what Perez is doing in there. He's constantly hitching, considering what to do next, and none of it is working so far. That makes it sound like this is a huge blowout, but it's just that he can't find any success for more than a shot here and there at a time. Perez swinging his right hand wide, and Perez just doesn't see it coming. As Roy notes, Perez is just straight back all the time, head way up in the air. Decarie sort of bullying him this round. Right hand from Decarie. Good jab lands after that. Perez just can't figure him out right now. Another right lands.
Antonin Decarie 10-9, 30-27
