John Molina faces Dannie Williams in a pivotal bout for both lightweight fringe contenders, while Brandon Gonzales takes on Don Mouton in the middleweight co-feature.
Tonight from the Pueblo Pavilion at the Santa Fe Indian School in Santa Fe, New Mexico, ESPN Friday Night Fights goes live at 9:00 pm EST with a lightweight main event between John Molina and Dannie Williams.
Molina (24-2, 19 KO) is coming off of a 44-second loss to Antonio DeMarco last September, but has fared well at this level in the past. He's an action fighter, and Williams (22-2, 18 KO) is when he's operating at his best, too, so there's a good chance we'll have some fireworks in this fight. The Jack Loew-trained Williams lost his last time out on FNF, outclassed by Hank Lundy in March 2012. He's won a tune-up fight since then.
In the co-feature, the Virgil Hunter-trained Brandon Gonzales (16-0, 10 KO) takes on Houston's Don Mouton (12-4-1, 10 KO). Mouton, 34, is a bit better than his record, but if Gonzales is a legit prospect, he shouldn't have big trouble here. The last time most saw Gonzales, 28, however, he was struggling to get past veteran Ossie Duran on ShoBox in October 2011. He's fought just once since that bout.
We'll be here with live results and discussion at 9 pm EST, and then we'll immediately flip over to ShoBox at 11:15.
