WBA middleweight titlist Gennady Golovkin is hoping to fight five times in 2013, with March and June dates in the mix.
Gennady Golovkin will return in March and then plans to fight again in June, as the WBA middleweight titlist targets five bouts in 2013. Golovkin got his campaign started right with a seventh round TKO win over Gabriel Rosado this past Saturday night.
Golovkin (25-0, 22 KO) is expected to return on March 30 in Europe, in what will likely be little more than a tune-up bout. After that, he wants to fight in June in a "major bout," which probably means a return to HBO.
The 30-year-old Kazakh has built up quite a buzz with his two HBO fights, especially among diehard fans, and if there's an avoided fighter at 160 these days, it's probably Golovkin. One guy who says he's ready to fight Golovkin is Darren Barker, which is potentially the best level of opponent we can really hope to see take the challenge.
Of the potential mid-tier sort of options out there, who would you like to see face Golovkin?
