This past Saturday night on Showtime, Lucas Matthysse knocked out Mike Dallas Jr in the first round, improving his record to 33-2 (31 KO) and further establishing himself as one of the elite in the 140-pound division.
Also on the card, Jesus Soto Karass (27-8-3, 17 KO) scored a bit of an upset over Selcuk Aydin (23-2, 17 KO), winning a majority decision over 10 rounds. The veteran Soto Karass likely booked himself future decent fights with this win, while it's a huge setback for Aydin, who has now lost two in a row.
Junior middleweight prospect Jermell Charlo improved to 20-0 (10 KO) with an eighth round stoppage of Harry Joe Yorgey (25-2-1, 12 KO). While a solid win for where Charlo is at, Yorgey has really been a part-time fighter at best since he was destroyed by Alfredo Angulo in 2009, fighting just three times since then, all against very marginal opposition.
