Pittsburgh lightweight Rod "Lightning" Salka has signed a five fight deal with Golden Boy and will debut on the Adrien Broner vs Marcos Maidana undercard.

He will be fighting Ricardo "Dinamita" Alvarez (22-2-3 14 KO), the older brother of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, in a ten round fight that will be televised on ShoExtreme before the main card kicks off on Showtime Championship boxing.

Salka is excited about the opportunity to fight on television and thinks that his style is perfect for Alvarez but he knows that he will have to tweak it some.

"I always do well against Mexicans. They have a style that plays into mine well."

"I'll need to move my hands more and am going to try and make a statement in this fight. I'm still going to box but if I can get him out of there I am going to try."

Salka (18-2 3 KO) is also happy to have promoter duties off his shoulders.

"I was going into the ring with 100 things going on in my head. I am just going to go out there and have fun, move my hands, and try to look good."

He also said that he is willing to fight anywhere from lightweight, where he currently holds the NABA US and IBO International titles, to welterweight.

"I have a big frame for lightweight and most of the guys from 135 to 147 have similar body types and they are all around 5'7" or 5'8". I'm big at lightweight and put on weight well if I have to move up."

This is no doubt a big chance for Salka and he is taking it very seriously and preparing hard for his first televised fight. The fight will take place on December 14 and his fight will be on ShoExtreme.
