The Pacquiao vs Rios pay-per-view card has begun, and we're one of five fights down. As expected, junior welterweight prospect Felix Verdejo of Puerto Rico had a pretty easy time against Thailand's Petchsamuthr Duanaaymukdahan, winning a clear six-round unanimous decision on scores of 60-53. BLH also had it 60-53 for Verdejo.
Verdejo (9-0, 6 KO) rocked Duanaaymukdahan (8-2, 1 KO) a few times with right hands, including one terrific, long uppercut, but he couldn't stop the underdog, who was determined and pretty fun to watch, celebrating at the end of each round just because he was standing in there taking shots.
The Puerto Rican prospect is looking like a good pro, but there are obviously still several levels to go for Verdejo. Still, he's definitely worth getting excited about in what is a rather dry period for Puerto Rican boxing overall, with no world titles held by any PR boxers in the entire sport, a very rare thing indeed.
