I've been interested in asking this question, purely out of my own curiosity.
I had a strange introduction to boxing which was a few years ago when my friend was talking about a fight but no one was interested so I went away and did some watching and reading so that I could hold a conversation with him about it, then I really got into it. So much so that I tried to talk to him about Bradley-Provodnikov a while back and he didn't know what I was on about.
Anyway, all that aside, my main point of interest is about Ricky Hatton. I know a lot is made of Floyd Mayweathers opponents, and the lack of challenge for him, but my knowledge when this fight was made was poor. I followed the build up and believed Hatton would win, supporting a fellow Brit was basically all it was based on.
What was the general consensus around that fight when it was made? Was he seen as a decent opponent, or was he viewed in much the way Guerrero was when that fight was made? And how did Hatton go on to fight Paquio, I can't imagine he was viewed as much of a threat?
I only ask as I know I could Google it and find old articles, but I like to hear peoples opinions on it and learn new things about old fighters - at least to me. I have no idea if what I've written makes sense or is even interesting.
Any opinions very much welcomed.
