Sakio Bika not interested in rematch with Anthony Dirrell, says he was fighting referee as well

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Sakio Bika didn't get his hand raised last night, but he left with his WBC super middleweight title, and that sounds like it's good enough for him.

Sakio Bika knows Anthony Dirrell wants a rematch, but he says that he's not interested in providing that opportunity, as he feels like he won last night's draw in Brooklyn, and that he was fighting more than just his opponent.

Bika (32-5-3, 21 KO) believes that the referee was fooled on what should have been a body shot knockdown late in the fight, which Dirrell (26-0-1, 22 KO) went down from, but reacted as if it were a low blow, which it was called. After that, Bika lost a crucial point for further rough tactics. Without that point, he would have won a split decision.

"I feel like I was fighting the referee as well," Bika said. "The body shot was a legitimate body shot. Not below the belt line. I got him on the belt line, Dirrell just wanted to milk it. I was the busier fighter and now I just want to fight the best ahead of me."

The 34-year-old Bika may get pushed into a Dirrell rematch whether he likes it or not, if that's what Golden Boy and adviser Al Haymon would prefer to see happen. The other options may be a rematch with Marco Antonio Periban or a fight with Badou Jack of Mayweather Promotions, who won on Friday night.
