Eduard Gutknecht defends the European light heavyweight title against Juergen Braehmer in the main event from Berlin, with a title shot at WBO champ Nathan Cleverly also on the line.
Today at 2 pm EST on BoxNation and also airing on ARD in Germany, Eduard Gutknecht faces Juergen Braehmer in a light heavyweight main event from Max Schmeling Halle in Berlin, with Gutknecht's European title on the line. The bout is also a WBO eliminator for a shot at Nathan Cleverly's title.
Gutknecht (24-1, 9 KO) won the European belt in May 2011, beating Danny McIntosh, and has made three defenses since then. The 30-year-old, originally from Kazakhstan, has developed into a solid second-tier fighter in the division. Braehmer (38-2, 30 KO) is a former WBO titlist who, at 34, is looking to get back into the world title mix. He hasn't lost since 2008, going 7-0 since then.
The undercard is pretty much the standard fare, though better than yesterday's Sturm-Soliman bill. Here's the rundown of what happens before the main event:
