With Devon Alexander out of his scheduled main event on February 23 in Detroit, the show will go on with Cornelius "K9" Bundrage defending his IBF junior middleweight title against Ishe Smith in the new main event.

Showtime probably wasn't looking to have Lucas Matthysse-Mike Dallas Jr and Cornelius Bundrage-Ishe Smith as their first two Showtime Championship Boxing main events of 2013, but with Devon Alexander postponing his fight with Kell Brook -- which was already postponed once before, due to Brook -- that's what it's come to.

The good news is that there will be a show on February 23, and that means there will be Showtime boxing to watch that night despite the loss of the original main event. Bundrage-Smith, taken as something like a terrific Friday Night Fights main event (with due respect to both fighters, that's not meant as an insult), is a quality fighter on its own, and Bundrage, a Detroit native, was already going to be responsible for a good bit of the live draw, anyway.

The move also bumps the crossroads fight between prospect J'Leon Love and veteran Bronco McKart, another pair of Michiganders, into the co-feature role on the broadcast.
