Johnathon Banks has broken his thumb in sparring, postponing his February 16 rematch with Seth Mitchell.

Just a few hilarious minutes after we posted a look back at their first fight, news came out that Johnathon Banks has pulled out of his February 16 rematch with Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell due to a broken thumb.

Golden Boy's Richard Schaefer said they'll try to bump the Sakio Bika vs Nikola Sjekloca fight for the vacant WBC super middleweight title to the HBO broadcast. Adrien Broner's main event bout with Gavin Rees is still on.

Banks (29-1-1, 19 KO) upset Mitchell (25-1-1, 19 KO) on November 17, stopping the hyped prospect in the second round. There was plenty of intrigue in the rematch, and questions about whether Banks could do it again, or if Mitchell could have made enough adjustments and improvements to not make the same crucial mistakes he did the first time.

The fight will likely be rescheduled, since it was a contractually obligated rematch for Banks. But it's off for now, and continues the early 2013 mess on the boxing schedule.
