Rios vs Alvarado II: Brandon Rios plans to stop Mike Alvarado in five rounds

Brandon Rios is aiming to stop Mike Alvarado earlier in Saturday night's rematch, hoping to prove he's ready for the sport's elite fighters.

Marcos Villegas, Boxing Channel: "Brandon, when this fight comes, and when the bell rings, is it gonna be the start of round number eight?"

Brandon Rios: "It's going to be exactly like that. Everybody's excited, I'm very excited about this fight again. It's gonna be another war. I know he wants to prove a point, so it's going to be one hell of a fight again."

Boxing Channel: "Looking at that, are you going to stick to the same plan that you had in the first fight, or are you going to be a little more aggressive to to put him out of there a little bit earlier?"

Rios: "I'm expecting the same fight, unless he does something different. I know he wants to avenge his loss, so it's going to be the same fight again, a toe-to-toe battle. He's gonna try to keep me on the outside at the end of his reach, but at the end of the day, it's not gonna work too long, so he's gonna come back out and fight."

Boxing Channel: "I know from talking to you before, you mentioned you feel you're gonna be able to get him out of there in five rounds. Why do you think you're gonna be able to get him out in five rounds?"

Rios: "I want to prove a point. I want to leave no doubts in his camp, saying it got stopped too soon. I'm ready, 100 percent. I'm ready for the next level. I'm ready to fight the best out there. I gotta show everybody that I'm one feared boxer to mess with."

Boxing Channel: "It took you seven rounds the first time, so if you're gunning for five rounds, do you feel you're going to have an easier time with Alvarado?"

Rios: "You never know. Alvarado's one hell of a warrior. He's still a big 140. There's always that puncher's chance that he has, but I'm ready, and I'm going to show the world what I can do when I'm ready."

Boxing Channel: "Is there a part of you that wants it to go all 12 rounds, back-and-forth, so that we're talking about this fight 10 years down the road, 20 years down the road?"

Rios: "The five rounds that they're gonna talk about are going to be great. I'm ready for 12 rounds no matter what. I train for 12. Actually, I train for 20 rounds."
