Juan Manuel Marquez was officially "not interested" the last time the subject was brought up, but trainer Nacho Beristain says he thinks Marquez should fight Manny Pacquiao for a fifth time and make the most money he can, instead of facing Timothy Bradley, Mike Alvarado, or Brandon Rios.
"I think Juan can be well prepared to fight Brandon Rios or Timothy Bradley, but definitely the best fight out there for him is Pacquiao - because he is going to bring a lot of money. ... That fight would bring a very substantial purse that benefits everyone involved in the event - and that is something that neither Brandon Rios or Timothy Bradley is able to bring."
Marquez (55-6-1, 40 KO) is at the highest point of his career, coming off of a December knockout of Pacquiao in the fourth fight of their incredible rivalry, which has now spanned nearly a decade. There's little doubt among most, I think, that Marquez and Pacquiao will meet for a fifth time this year, or next year. There is just so much money to be made with that fight, which realistically is probably going to be the biggest of their series in terms of money. That KO sparked huge interest in another bout between the two.
But if Marquez fights Bradley, Alvarado, or Rios instead, I doubt many people will complain. It's up to Marquez, and how much money is enough money for him to fight.
