Donaire vs Rigondeaux results: Undercard fights from Radio City Music Hall

Al Bello

It was a prospect showcase tonight on the Donaire-Rigondeaux undercard in New York, with everything going as expected.

Here are the early results from Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Erick De Leon UD-4 Diamond Baier (40-36, 40-36, 40-34)

Lightweight prospect De Leon, from Detroit by way of Mexico, easily dominated Arizona's Baier, but the fact that he landed a lot of clean, solid left hands and didn't even really so much as wobble Baier might be a concern. De Leon (3-0, 1 KO) was a little wild, but you're allowed to be in fight number three against a guy who's there to lose. Not saying that Baier didn't try -- he did -- but, you know what I mean. Baier (2-5-1, 0 KO) wasn't picked as an opponent to win this fight or anything. Funniest Col. Bob moment came after the fight, when he said of Baier, "We'll see where his career goes." I think I've got a good idea.

Mikael Zewski KO-2 Daniel Sostre

Sostre, now 11-9-1 (4 KO), doesn't have an impressive record, but he's proven to be a tougher fighter than his record indicates. Zewski, though, hammered him out in round two, scoring a knockdown early in the round, then following up with a barrage of punches that put Sostre down again, at which point Sostre took the ten count on his knees. It's nothing awe-inspiring, but a solid win for Zewski (19-0, 15 KO).

Tyler Canning SD-4 Dario Soccia (39-37, 39-37, 37-39)

Minor upset, if there's really such a thing as an upset in a fight between a guy who was 1-1 (Canning) and a guy who was 2-0 (Soccia). I had a draw, with the second and third to Canning. Also, I don't care.

Glen Tapia UD-8 Joseph de los Santos (80-72, 80-72, 80-72)

Tapia improves to 18-0 (10 KO), but the performance was flat and hardly inspiring, leaving pretty much everyone watching the stream cold, and I'm just talking super important and influential media members here, not you lowly "fans" or "bloggers." I mean, LOL, who do you think you are? Do you get bullshit quotes from promoters on the telephone? Of course not. So suck it, dummy.

Jesse Hart TKO-3 Marlon Farr

A fine showing for young Hart (6-0, 5 KO) as he continues to build his career, but an awful job by referee Arthur Mercante, who pointlessly allowed Farr (2-3, 0 KO) to continue after he was demolished by a right hand. It was clear from any vantage point that Farr was out of it and totally done, but Mercante let it go on for no reason, and Farr got his brain rocked around again immediately for the stoppage.

Felix Verdejo TKO-1 Steve Gutierrez

No challenge for Puerto Rican Olympian Verdejo (5-0, 4 KO), who continues to tear through opposition early in his career. He floored Gutierrez as the result of a right hand first, then finished him off with an uppercut, left hook, and right hand moments later. He's a good-looking prospect, which Puerto Rico needs right now.

Sean Monaghan TKO-1 Dion Stanley

Monaghan (18-0, 11 KO) had an easy night with this one. Stanley (11-5, 7 KO) wasn't in shape, wasn't good, and was blasted out on a right hand, falling awkwardly and hurting his foot or something. What a fight!
